Ugh...sick of your job?
  • ashleyashley February 2
How many of us quarter-lifers suffer through awful jobs?? Let's talk about it!!

yes! I think with how bad the economy is today it means that there a lot of us that are going to be forced into jobs that we don't necessarily enjoy because we don't have the option of finding our dream job at the moment. It's so frustrating to feel like I'm competing for jobs with people that have graduate degrees and years of experience (which I don't). Are we supposed to wait it out for our dream jobs?? OR do we just suffer through? Is anyone else feeling the same?

I personally think that if you have a job, then you're lucky. SO many of my friends can't find jobs and have had to move back home with their parents! So even if you're not loving your job at the moment, you really should be grateful that you have one (even though that doesn't make your bad days at work any easier).

I agree with lyndsayc. I just think if you have a job at the moment, you have to be grateful because there are so many twenty-somethings out there that are unable to get jobs!

I agree that we should be grateful for our jobs, but I think a lot of us aren't looking at it creatively enough. When I first started applying for jobs in the real world, I thought I could only choose one path at a time. So silly!

Currently I free-lance in PR and am building my personal training business. I LOVE doing both, and I do better at each b/c I get breaks from them.

I read about it in an old issue of Psychology Today; it labeled people that do this as "slashers," which I think is kind of cool. I have two jobs, yes, but I don't work crazy hours - and if I do, it's because I don't want to put down the pen (or the dumbbell).

I love my two jobs and the more involved I in them I become, the more doors are opened.

I think a lot of us have not met our own "hustler" personalities. I didn't know I could do it until I HAD to, but everything seemed to work out because I had a little extra time to commit to what used to be just a hobby (fitness).

Granted, this can't work for everyone, but the recession can work in our favor as well. Companies can't afford to hire the overly qualified folks for what they're demanding, but they can't take an under qualified person for a full time job either. If you can get a part time job at a legit company, it frees you up to branch out and try something you normally wouldn't! (giving you a little stability in the meantime)

    Try it! :)
